Liu Maomao, a 34-year-old ex-soldier who has been working as a security guard in SIP’s Qinyuan Residential Quarter for 11 years, recently received the honor of “Advanced Individual in Righteous Behaviors” from the government of East China’s Jiangsu province for risking his life to guarantee the safety of local residents’ life and properties.
It is learnt that, in an earlier fight against a thief whom he spotted through a monitor, Liu grabbed the thief tightly even after he was stabbed by the latter with a knife. Fortunately, he was taken to the hospital by his colleagues in time.
Actually, it was not the first time that Liu risked his life to fulfill his duties. Years ago, Liu save two elderlies and their six-month-old grandbaby from a big fire caused by an electrical fault in their house.
“I just did what I should do,” Liu said after knowing that he was granted the accolade.
