The SIP-based automotive products arm of TE Connectivity, an American Swiss-domiciled technology company, opened its engineering technology center in Genway I-Park, SIP on Nov 9. The new facility is expected to help the company improve its innovation capacity and delivery efficiency so that it can better serve its clients in the auto sector.
TE Connectivity designs and manufactures connectors and sensors for several industries such as automotive, industrial equipment, data communication systems, aerospace, defense, medical, oil and gas. It set up the branch in SIP in 2004, and has continuously expanded it. The branch now has five manufacturing bases and an upgraded Asia-Pacific financial service center.
The new facility, with an area of about 5,700 square meters, will gather 500 R&D staff members under the short-term plan and 1,000 under a longer-term one to develop cutting-edge technologies and products such as those for new energy vehicles and intelligent vehicular networking.
