The “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy – China” project, the first of its kind in China, was launched in SIP on Nov 23. From Nov 23 to Dec 1, 15 young conductors and seven young singers from different countries are scheduled to take part in a series of courses and rehearsals at Jinji Lake Concert Hall.
The “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy” project was initiated by Riccardo Muti, a world-famous Italian conductor, in 2015, in the aim of imparting experience and skills to young conductors, performers and singers.
The “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy – China” project launched in April attracted attention from global young musicians. After selection, 15 conductors and seven singers gained entry to it. In addition to attending the training and rehearsals, they will share the stage with Mr. Riccardo Muti, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra Choir and Tianjin Conservatory of Music Youth Choir in two concerts featuring Cavalleria Rusticana, a well-known Italian one-act opera.
“I’m so satisfied with the Jinji Lake Concert Hall. It is very beautiful, and I’m glad to work with Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. I hope more young Chinese conductors and musicians will be able to participate in the project. I believe the project will leave a seed in Suzhou, which will sprout and grow up in the future,” Mr. Riccardo Muti said, excitedly talking about his first tour in SIP.
