Notice on Fully Resuming Normal Medical Service


The entire city of Suzhou has been at low risk for COVID-19 since May 5. To meet people’s medical treatment needs, the city’s epidemic prevention and control headquarters has decided to fully resume normal medical service across the city on condition that epidemic control requirements are followed.

1. Starting May 6, outpatient departments, clinics (including traditional Chinese medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine) and other medical facilities can fully resume their daily medical service after the approval of local health authorities.

2. Specialized departments including stomatology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology and plastic surgery in specialized hospitals and general hospitals can resume their service after self-assessment. Elective surgeries will be resumed according to the actual epidemic situation.

3. Residents can make reservations via “Su Zhou Dao” (苏周到) and “Health Suzhou” (健康苏州掌上行) mobile apps or “12320” health hotline. When seeking medical treatment, residents should provide 48-hour negative nucleic acid test results or sampling records of the day and have their health code, travel record and temperature checked.

4. Patients in critical condition can directly dial “120” and they will be given priority to emergency treatment at a nearby hospital whether they can provide COVID reports or not.

5. Patients in need of outpatient surgery, endoscopy and oral treatment, new inpatients and caregivers should have negative nucleic acid test results within 24 hours.

6. Unessential visits and care-giving should be avoided. For patients in urgent need of care, they should have regular caregivers and their caregivers will be under closed-loop management.

7. Residents from quarantine sites, locked-down areas and controlled areas, and people with yellow health codes should go to designated medical facilities for yellow health code holders following the previous procedure of reporting, transferring and treating.

8. Residents with such symptoms as fever, dry cough, stuffy nose, sore throat and conjunctivitis should immediately go to a nearby fever clinic for medical treatment. When seeking treatment, they should avoid using public transport and take proper self-protection measures.

9. Residents without ten typical symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough and runny nose, can go to medical facilities in the neighborhood for basic medical care and services, including treatment of common diseases, prescription for chronic diseases, signing contracts with family doctors and getting vaccinated.

10. For organizations and individuals that are willing to donate blood, they can take proper prevention measures and go to Suzhou Blood Center or other blood donation sites to give blood.
