Thanks to the help of three kindergartens in SIP’s Xietang Sub-district, the students of six rural schools in Qin’an county in Northwest China’s Gansu province, where readings used to be very scarce, now have their own libraries. The libraries that opened on Oct 28 are full of shelves with books of various kinds.

These libraries were built with money donated by Xietang Sub-district Experimental Kindergarten, Xinghu Kindergarten and Chefang Kindergarten through Suzhou Good Deeds Charity Center.

The kindergartens organized charity bazaars around the New Year’s Day when the participating children and their families raised RMB 60,476 by selling home-made food, handiworks and idle and second-hand articles.

In addition to helping build the libraries, part of the money was used to help an orphan in Lianhua town of Qin’an county and buy school supplies for left-behind children (referring to youngsters who grow up in impoverished rural areas largely on their own after their parents leave to work in big cities) in Meigu county in Sichuan province.
