Roche Diagnostics, a division of Roche, one of the world’s largest biotech companies, broke ground on a new project in SIP on May 13, with its largest ever single investment in China.
The project is designed to cover a land area of 108 mu (7.2 hectares). It will be built in two phases, with the first phase costing 383 million Swiss francs and covering a land area of 55 mu (3.67 hectares).
The project will serve as Roche Diagnostics’ reagent and equipment manufacturing and R&D base in the Asia-Pacific region. It is expected to be completed in 2027, and put into operation in 2028, when the company will be able to make over 400 kinds of reagents and devices and achieve an annual output value of RMB10 billion.
