SIP is striving to become a frontrunner and good example for the development of low-altitude economy in the country.

SIP has a good foundation for low-altitude economy. It started early to foster the aerospace industry which is now an important part of the high-end manufacturing industry. Currently, SIP is home to over 100 enterprises engaged in related sectors, and the total size of the aerospace industry exceeded RMB10 billion last year, of which the operating income of enterprises directly engaged in low-altitude economy was more than RMB600 million. Many of the enterprises are industry leaders or emerging startups with strong innovation capability.

A low-altitude economy ecosystem is taking shape in SIP. Last week, a cargo drone carrying electronic parts and components left the warehouse of Delta Logistics in SIP’s comprehensive bonded area for the warehouse of the cargo owner in the trade function zone in the area, during which it stopped at SIP Customs Supervision Center for five minutes for the cargoes to be inspected and released.

Compared with traditional transportation modes, the use of the unmanned aerial vehicle for the delivery of the cargoes has allowed the operating cost to be reduced by 90% and the delivery duration shortened by 75%.

SIP has a Class-A general aviation heliport which is the only one of its kind in Suzhou. An aviation camp was recently opened in Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort, offering three routes for people to enjoy beautiful scenery of SIP in a helicopter.

Xinshengli Industrial Park, which focuses on semiconductor and aerospace industries, was recently recognized as one of Suzhou’s first pilot industrial parks for development of low-altitude economy.

SIP authorities are making a three-year action plan for future development of low-altitude economy.
