SIP’s Shengpu Sub-district is hosting its first culture and art carnival, aiming to bring about a culture and art feast for locals.
The culture and art carnival reportedly consists of 710 events in nine categories scheduled from January to November. The events have been elaborately devised to meet the varied tastes of local residents.
In the event in Jinxi Park, three projects aimed at highlighting Shengpu Sub-district’s intangible cultural heritage - traditional costumes for women and xuanjuan (a traditional storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect) - were unveiled. Besides, performances were staged, while a cultural fair and a calligraphy and painting exhibition were held.
