Yueshu Community in SIP’s Xietang Sub-district was recently declared one of the Top 10 Reading Communities in Suzhou.
The community has been endeavoring in recent years to motivate local residents to read books and devote themselves to lifelong learning.
The community runs a study with over 2,000 books and a wide range of audio books. It organizes diverse events such as reading salons and public classes for residents to learn new knowledge and skills.
The community has also carried out a pilot program to create a “passageway gallery” in an idle building with not only art works but also art books recommended by SIP Public Cultural Center. Residents can scan the QR codes offered on site to read the books on their mobile phones.
