The three-day 2024(15th) Lake Cup Regatta(LCR) kicked off in SIP on Oct 18.
Initiated in 2011,the annual LCR has become a brand event in SIP,attracting a large number of professional sailors and sailing enthusiasts each year.It has been included in the“List of Regattas in China”and honored an “Excellent Mass Regatta from 2021 to 2022”by the Chinese Yachting Association.
This year’s event was sponsored by Suzhou Rui’an Multimedia Company,and jointly organized by Suzhou Baqi Sailing Club and New Era Group with the assistance from Suzhou Yachting Association and Suzhou Harmony Development Group Co Ltd.
The opening ceremony was held at Jinji Station 06 which was recently opened near JinjiLake as a place for tourists to take a rest during their tours.Over 100 contestants from China,the UnitedStates,Russia,Switzerland,Italy and other countries and regions set off at ten o’clock for a race on Jinji Lake,amid the cheers from the spectators on the banks.
What made th eparticipants exciting were not just the sailing races,but also the opportunities of experiencing the sport of sailing free of charge,the parties,fairs,exhibitions,and performances during the event.
