Primary school holds Chinese chess festival

SIP Shengpu Experimental Primary School (SPEPS) recently hosted its 2nd Chinese Chess Cultural Festival, aiming to further arouse the students' interest in Chinese chess and help them enhance their skills.

The nine-day event, consisting of a Chinese chess league among the first and second graders, a tournament attended by the best players selected from the first to sixth graders as well as a parent-child contest, attracted the attention of all the teachers, students and their parents, either as contestants or audiences.

The news about Xu Chao, the Shengpu-born SPEPS alumnus who recently won the 2017 National Chinese Chess Individual Championships, heightened the students' enthusiasm for the board game.

In the event, the students also took pictures and shot videos about chess playing outside the school.
