During the Golden Week holiday which lasted from Oct 1 to 8 to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, SIP saw 1.718 million tourist arrivals, nearly 80% of that over the same period of last year, and the local tourism industry’s revenue increased by 3.07% year-on-year, demonstrating a robust recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The achievement should be partly attributed to the SIP “YE” events which include bazaars, exhibitions, performances and other art, cultural and sports activities aimed at boosting nighttime consumption. For example, there is the Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale scheduled from Sept 6 to Nov 15, the riverside bazaar at old Xietang Street, and the rainforest-themed exhibition, etc.
Apart from that, the newly opened “YLPTR Fashionable Entertainment Complex”, which offers visitors chances to experience multimedia painting exhibition, karting and CS (Counterstrike) games, and the extension zone of the outlets mall Suzhou Village attracted many tourists, too.
The hotels in SIP also enhanced their efforts during the holiday to attract guests. In addition to providing excellent accommodation and catering services, many hotels hosted parent-child events such as open-air barbecue and DIY activities.
