Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZS) kicked off the 2023-24 performance season on Sept 2 with the performance of three classic Tchaikovsky works, Polonaise, Violin Concerto in D Major and Symphony No. 4 in F Minor. SZS’ music director Chen Xieyang led the performance, and famous violinist Lao Li joined it.
As the eighth performance season of SZS, the 2023-24 Season is scheduled from September 2023 to July 2024, when over 100 performances will be staged.
The new season is devised to comprise a diversity of concerts like those of works by world-famous composers, those of classic opera songs and those designed to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Algeria, the 30th anniversary of the inception of SIP and the 7th birthday of SZS.
A host of renowned conductors and musicians will share the stage. Among them are famous Chinese conductors Zhang Xian, Sheng Zongliang and Ye Cong and Russian conductor and pianist Vassily Serafimovich Sinaisky.
The 3rd Jinji Lake International Piano Competition will be held next April, and the winners will join part of the performances in the new season.
