A one-month calligraphy exhibition opened at Suzhou Wenzheng Academy, SIP on Aug 26, showcasing over 60 calligraphy works created by Suzhou-native calligrapher Qian Yuqing in the past two or three years.

Qian, born in Suzhou in 1968, is renowned for his extraordinary attainments in traditional Chinese calligraphy. He is especially apt at cursive script (a kind of rapid handwriting in which strokes are cursively connected), and also a good hand at other script styles. Qian has won a long list of Chinese art awards, and his works have been shown at many exhibitions.

The calligrapher showed up at the book signing held concurrently for a collection of his works. It is learnt that all earnings from the selling of the collection will be donated to the Qian Yuqing Calligraphy Art Fund which, managed by SIP Charity Federation, is mainly used to help financially challenged calligraphers and support calligraphy education and creation projects.
