A chamber concert recently staged by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and Chinese guqin (Chinese zither) performer Dai Xiaolian and her team kicked off the 3rd Chinese Music Festival at Jinji Lake Concert Hall, SIP.

The Chinese Music Festival was initiated by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra in 2021 for the purpose of spreading Chinese music and helping audiences gain a better understanding of the culture and aesthetics embraced in the region south of the Yangtze River.

The third edition of the festival will last two weeks. In addition to the concert mentioned above, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will put on a concert themed “Starry Sky Over Ocean” on July 15, and Suzhou National Symphony Orchestra will stage a concert themed “Rejuvenation” on July 21. About 20 Chinese music pieces will be performed during the concerts.
