Li Dongjun, a Chinese history scholar, introduced her new book Getting Close to Paintings of the Song Dynasty and had dialogue with scholar Liu Gang and essayist Zhou Zexiong at Suzhou Eslite Bookstore, SIP on July 1.

The book comprises about 100 classic paintings by nearly 30 literati of the Five Dynasties (907-960) and the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It guides the readers to know better about the techniques used by the ancients to draw landscapes, flowers and birds and people, and understand the concepts that the paintings reflect.

Li said she hoped the book could lead the readers to feel what the Song literati felt when creating the works and get from the works nourishment for their mind.
