The 2023 (6th) Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale was a great success. It recorded more than 10 million visitors and over 1.1 million views on short video platforms from its opening on Apr 15 to its closing on June 25.
“It is the biggest international art event in Suzhou in recent years,” said Yin Weidong, director of SIP Culture, Sports and Tourism Office.
This edition of Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale gathered more than 2,000 works by over 100 artists from 17 countries. The three theme exhibitions, “We Are Better Off”, “Rainbow: From the World of Bridges” and “The Biennale of the 6th China Youth Sculpture”, amazed the visitors.
Statistics show that over 900 overseas mainstream media organizations made nearly 1,000 reports about the event.
The popularity of the biennale should be also attributed to 20 parallel exhibitions and 300 art education activities which made art everywhere and better understood.
