An event themed “Touring Elegant Xietang Following the Wu Boat during the Dragon Boat Festival” was held at the old Xietang Street, a Demonstration Street for Preserving Place-names as Part of Cultural Heritage in SIP, from June 21 to 23. The event was part of the “Following the Preserved Place-names to Learn about SIP” series.
During the event, which took place at a number of sites with place-names of historic significance, exhibits that manifest traditional culture and suit contemporary aesthetics were shown. Besides, performances, games and other activities were incorporated to spread culture related to the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival that is reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar and fell on June 22 this year.
On the opening day, a number of intangible cultural heritage elements were shown, performances of ancient style staged, and folk activities held to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
