The Gao Lei’s Fine Art Exhibition themed “Scenery on the Way” opened at Ming Gallery of Art, SIP on June 24, and will last till July 10.
Sponsored by the gallery and organized by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Suzhou University of Science and Technology, the exhibition features over 30 watercolors and pencil and pen drawings of buildings and scenes drawn by Chinese artist Gao Lei.
Gao is a national first-class registered architect who studied architecture in Tsinghua University and worked there as a teacher after graduation before he was transferred to Nanning Comprehensive Design Institute in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Gao began to work at Suzhou Urban Construction and Environmental Protection Institute (current Suzhou University of Science and Technology) in 1984.
The 90-year-old artist showed up at the opening ceremony to share his experiences and opinions with the visitors.
“I’m lucky to have worked in different places so that I could see many natural landscapes and amazing buildings,” Gao said. He hopes the exhibition will be able to give students majoring in architectural design the “nutrients” that they need for their future designs.
