The Weiting Sub-district University for the Aged in SIP’s Weiting Sub-district held a graduation ceremony for the class of spring 2023 recently. Over 100 teachers and students participated.
It is learnt that the Weiting Sub-district University for the Aged runs a teaching center in SIP Northern Citizen Center and one in Qingyuan Culture & Sports Center to offer various courses for the aged to continue their education and enrich their lives.
This spring, the university offered 42 courses about traditional Chinese painting, Latin dance, hand knitting, taiji (traditional Chinese shadowboxing), calligraphy and so on to 509 elderlies.
At the graduation ceremony, 12 teachers and 80 students received commendations, and a number of the elderlies showcased their learning outcomes.
It is reported that some of the elderlies would serve as volunteers in communities to help other aged residents make their lives colorful.
