Several communities in SIP’s Jinji Lake Sub-district recently hosted events in the hope of offering local residents opportunities to learn more about diverse traditional handicrafts that have been recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
In the event in Zhongyue Community, the volunteer teacher gave the participants a specific introduction to velvet flower, a kind of silk flower on a twisted wire frame, and then taught them to make their own velvet flowers.
In the event in Xinggui Community, the participants experienced diancui, a process of cutting and gluing blue bird feathers as inlays for gold or silver jewelries.
In the event in Shidai Guangchangnan, the participants learnt to braid colored cords into beautiful knots and buttons.
