SIP’s endeavor to improve public cultural services pays off

Seven projects in SIP stood out in a recent evaluation that was aimed at celebrating excellent public cultural spaces, little theaters and public art promotion projects in Suzhou.

The Archaeological Site Park of Caoxieshan built based on an archaeological site featuring 6,000-year-old ancient civilization, the QU ART MUSEUM (SIP), the second museum of Belgium-based art spreading company ESPACE QU ART in the country, and the Hong Yu Shi Gallery, a contemporary art organization, won the title for “Characteristic Public Cultural Spaces in the Region South of the Yangtze River”.

The Ying Theater, a multifunctional theater in the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre Performing Culture Cluster, and the Pingtan Theater in Heyun Community which offers pingtan (storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect) performances every month since 2013, were declared “Exemplary Public-benefit Little Theaters”.

The SIP Citizens Art Festival, which incorporates online and offline events designed to spread culture and art, and the Caoxieshan Culture Lecture, part of the Caoxieshan Culture Festival, were recognized as “Excellent Projects for Public Art Promotion”.
