The 2022 (5th) China (Suzhou) International Pastel Biennale opened in SIP’s Ligongdi Cultural and Creative Block on Nov 12, and will be free to the public till Dec 4.
It is learnt that China (Suzhou) International Pastel Biennale was initiated in 2014 in Suzhou, one of a few cities where the art of pastel has maintained a good development since it was introduced to China in 1919.
This year’s event consists of an online display of 45 works by overseas artists and a physical display of 55 works by Chinese artists. These works were selected from 678 entries from 13 countries, including 18 that were declared award winners in the early evaluation.
There will be forums, salon sessions, lectures and other activities during the event to provide opportunities for participants to learn about the art of pastel and exchange opinions on it.
The opening day saw five artists from East China’s Shanghai and Zhejiang province and South China’s Hainan province creating pastels on site.
