Many of the cultural, sports and art venues in SIP have reopened after a period of closedown due to the coronavirus epidemic, though they still have to take strict precautions such as temperature taking, health code checking, regular disinfection and footfall control.

The screening of the documentary “The Arctic: Our Last Great Wilderness” on May 30 marked the reopening of Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre (SZCAC).

SZCAC Education and Training Center resumed offline classes on May 24, while Jinji Lake Art Museum will open again on June 7. Besides, a list of performances including dance dramas, ballets and chamber concerts will be staged to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the SZCAC.

Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre limits visitors to 50% capacity and is renovating its facilities such as those in the swimming pools and basketball courts to ensure effective epidemic prevention.

Northern SIP Citizen Center and SIP Public Culture Center have opened, too.

SIP Public Culture Center said it will continue to suspend onsite lectures, training sessions or performances for a period, but will provide a series of online events on culture and art instead.

HB World, a film-themed entertainment complex, has resumed operations since May 23. It announced to offer free tickets from May 23 to June 30 to medical workers and police officers who have made contributions to the fight against coronavirus.

Apart from that, an exhibition of paintings by Jiangsu-native artist Jiang Zhusong will kick off at Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Art Space on June 5.
