The exhibition of paintings by Chen Weibing, a Suzhou-native artist, kicked off at SIP Urban Artspace on Jan 15, and will last till Feb 15. The artist showed up at the opening ceremony with his new book Landscape Paintings from Class.
Chen, known as an “idyllist-like painter”, serves as chairman of Suzhou Artists Association and head of Suzhou Art Academy. He is widely known for his superb skills of portraying natural and cultural landscapes using traditional and modern painting techniques.
The paintings on display focus on portraying scenery of Suzhou and evolution of SIP, showing the artist’s love for his hometown.
The book contains valuable experience that Chen has accumulated in his art creation and painting classes.
At the opening ceremony, Chen shared his ideas on art creation with the participants, presented a work to SIP Urban Artspaces, and gave 100 copies of his new book to the art educators from around SIP.
