The 2021 (1st) “Children’s Artworks on Jiangnan” Exhibition, sponsored by Suzhou Artists Association, kicked off in SIP on Oct 24, with about 50 exhibits including calligraphy works, traditional Chinese and modern paintings, pastels, woodcut prints, collages, photography works and installations created by children. The exhibition will be free to the public till Nov 12.
“The artworks showcase the children’s understanding of Suzhou and its culture,” said the exhibition planner Zhai Lei.
The opening day saw an activity where the participating children, following the demonstration and instruction of the volunteer teacher, tried their hands on making woodcut moulds and using them to print pictures.
A number of children received awards for taking part in the planning for the exhibition or creating wonderful artworks.
