A new overpass located on the main line of the first phase of the SIP (southern) section of Suzhou Middle Ring Expressway, opened to traffic on Jan 18, allowing travel between the east and west banks of Dushu Lake and that between SIP and Wuzhong district of Suzhou to be faster.
The construction of the SIP section of Suzhou Middle Ring Expressway was launched in March 2020 with a total investment of about RMB 2.246 billion. The total length of the project is about 5.6 kilometers. The opened part consists of a two-way four-lane section and a two-way six-lane section.
“The travel time between SIP and Wuzhong and Wujiang districts can be shortened by 20 minutes by taking this overpass,” said the project manager from Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Renovation & Development Co Ltd (SIPURD).
