A drone took off from the warehouse at Suzhou Logistics Center in SIP’s comprehensive bonded area at 10:18 am on July 19, and then traveled about 7.8 kilometers with 10 boxes of first-aid medicine for treatment of heart diseases before landing on the roof of the outpatient service building of the Children’s Hospital of Soochow University. The process took 11 minutes.
It was the first time that an unmanned aerial vehicle successfully delivered medical supplies to the designated destination in SIP. It allowed the delivery duration to be shortened by 60%. Usually, a cargo vehicle has to travel 14 kilometers (over 30 minutes) to fulfill the same task.
