The 2024 SIP Reading Season kicked off on Apr 19, with a variety of events that will last till late this year to arouse local residents’ zest in reading and offer them diversified cultural experiences.
The event is sponsored by the Publicity Department and the United Front Work Department of CPC SIP Working Committee, and organized by SIP Public Cultural Center · Library in collaboration with the offices of sub-districts and SIP Reading Alliance.
The “Let’s Read in SIP” Youth Literary Creation Center was inaugurated to provide young literature enthusiasts with a platform for exchanges and learning writing skills.
The “Let’s Read in SIP” is a project designed to make readings easily available to people in cities. At the opening ceremony of this year’s reading season, 10 “reading squares”, 10 “reading buses” and 10 “reading convenience stores”, part of the project, were put into service.
The first “Let’s Read in SIP” list was unveiled. On the list are books recommended by last year’s top 10 urban libraries in national economic and development districts. It is learned that a list of similar kind is released every month and book exhibitions, reading-themed salon sessions and other activities will be held in the future.
SIP Library, Education Bureau and Working Committee on Women gave a “reading gift package” containing readings and about 100 reading activities to children and teenagers.
The Book Fair was opened to provide people with diversified ways of acquiring knowledge.
