The scenic spots and resorts in SIP recorded 366,900 tourist arrivals during the New Year holiday from Jan 1 to 3, and the operating incomes of nine hotels located around the Jinji and Yangcheng lakes reached RMB8.3023 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.58%, according to the latest statistics. The local tourism market kept “warm” during the holiday compared with the tremendous losses in the global tourism market because of COVID-19.
According to the statistics, 57% of the tourists came from around Suzhou, while 20% from other cities in East China’s Jiangsu province and the rest from outside the province.
SIP hosted a long list of festival activities during the holiday to attract tourists, such as the “Double 12 Shopping Suzhou-Fashion Shopping in SIP” shopping carnival, the “36-hour shopping spree” at Suzhou Center Mall, the new product launch at Suzhou Village, and the New Year’s Eve countdown, etc. There were also Suzhou Symphony Orchestra’s New Year Concert, various art exhibitions and new movies, and youngsters’ tennis games.
Moreover, SIP authorities carried out comprehensive safety measures before and during the holiday to ensure a warm and safe experience for tourists.
