The ground-breaking ceremony of SZ FTZ Business Center was held in China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area, SIP on Oct 19. Located in the core area of the business headquarters base that is being built in the FTZ, the project is expected to help accelerate development of emerging industries and headquarters economy in SIP.

With a land area of about 71,600 square meters and a total floor space of about 463,000 square meters, the new business center, with an investment of nearly RMB 4 billion, will consist of four towers and a number of auxiliary facilities including offices, exhibition and convention venues and hotels for business operations and activities.

Boasting seamless connections with SIP’s urban subway and rail transit systems, the project is anticipated to become another TOD (Transit Oriented Development) example after Suzhou Center, a landmark commercial complex in SIP.

According to the project developer and operator Suzhou Hengtai Commercial Real Estate Co Ltd, a member within SIP-based real estate conglomerate Hengtai Holdings, the project is scheduled to come into operation in late 2024.

“In addition to traditional offices, the business center will support R&D and project incubation and even small-scale production under R&D projects. We hope to create an industrial ecosystem for co-development based on shared resources,” Hengtai Holdings chairman Yu Guohua said.
