The three-day 2020 (11th) Lake Cup Regatta (LCR) kicked off in SIP in the drizzle on Oct 16, gathering over 200 adults and youngsters who competed in the J80, DC20 and Optimist Class races.
Initiated in 2011, the annual LCR has become a brand event in SIP, attracting a large number of professional sailors and sailing enthusiasts each year.
This year’s event included a variety of activities such as the Sailors’ Night and the windsurfing open tournament and nighttime exhibition race that was added to the LCR program for the first time.
The event was live-streamed on over 20 platforms, where Song Kun, the first Chinese woman to sail around the world, served as the hostess.
It is worth mentioning that, during the event, SIP-based Suzhou Baqi Sailing Club and Shanghai-based Qilang Aquatic Sports Center jointly launched the “Weekly Challenge” dual meet program in the aim of providing sailing enthusiasts with opportunities to participate in regular training and competitions.
