During the five-day training from July 3 to 7, over 150 teachers from around East China’s Jiangsu province attended the lectures given by five mentors from the National Institute of Education of the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore to learn skills for interdisciplinary teaching.
The lectures were given under the second-phase training of the second session of the “iSmart Home” International Teacher Training Program. The program was initiated in 2018 by SIP Administrative Committee and Singaporean non-profit organization Temasek Foundation International for the purpose of helping teachers in Suzhou improve their professional proficiency.
The coverage of the program has been expanded to include not only teachers from Suzhou, but also those from other places in Jiangsu province.
Several trainees shared their feelings at the graduation ceremony on July 7. Among them, Yuan Weiwen from Suzhou High School Affiliated to NUAA (Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics) gave the participants a talk on critical thinking for problem solving, and Yan Xinying from SIP Xincheng Garden Primary School shared her opinions on the course about social skills and emotional management.
