In SIP, an application to a middle school can be reviewed and approved in six seconds thanks to the simplified administrative procedures and the assistance of an AI algorithm.
SIP Administrative Review and Approval Office and SIP Education Bureau led the development of the SipEdu system last May for online application to a kindergarten or a primary school, and the system was upgraded recently to cover the applications to junior middle schools.
Parents can submit an application online with the required e-documents including ID cards and residence booklets that can be retrieved from the databases of not only SIP authorities but also those at city and provincial levels, and an AI algorithm served backstage to help check the application documents.
This has allowed an application to a kindergarten to be reviewed in nine seconds, that to a primary school in 14 seconds, and that to a middle school in six seconds.
So far, the system has benefited 37,000 students. When it comes to this year’s school enrollment season, averagely 84.33% of the enrollments as of June 11 were made in a non-face-to-face manner.
