The 2018 China Juveniles' Aeromodeling Tournament (CJAT) is expected to kick off at the aeromodeling base of SIP's Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort on Aug 12 and will last till Aug 21. A total of 149 teams consisting of 1,389 contestants from primary and middle schools across the country will compete in 30 contests with the support of their team leaders and coaches.
Sponsored by the Aeronautical Radio Model Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of China and Aero Sports Federation of China, the event is the highest-level competition of its kind in the country. It aims to offer youngsters chances to showcase their talents in design, development and flying of model aircrafts and increase their interest in learning science and engineering principles.
During the event, the youngsters will operate the model aircraft they made such as paper planes, helicopters, rockets and gliders to finish a series of stunts devised to test the models' performance.
