A news briefing at SIP's Modern Building on Dec 20 announced that the 1st Jinji Lake New Year Chingay Parade is going to take place along Jinji Lake banks from Dec 31, 2018 to Jan 1, 2019 as a celebration of the New Year's Day.
According to Sodo Tourism Group, the event organizer, the idea for the event was inspired by Singapore's Chingay Parade, an annual event to usher in the Chinese New Year with street floats and performances given by clowns, dancers, acrobats and jugglers among other performers.
It is disclosed that the SIP version will be a good chance to witness various cultural displays. Organizations, corporate companies, art troupes and hobby groups will join with exhibits about Chinese culture, international fusion, film and TV art and cartoons.
Apart from that, there will be street performances and a walking tour that opens to all local citizens.
