Six underground diaphragm walls have been completed since Feb 28 for the construction of a tunnel in the SIP section of Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway which is being built to connect the cities of Nantong and Suzhou in East China’s Jiangsu province and Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang province.
The Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway is an important part of the country’s coastal railway network for passenger transport, and is expected to greatly shorten the travel time between Suzhou and the other cities mentioned above.
The SIP section of the railway is 15.5 kilometers in total, and the tunnel is 13.5 kilometers. With the highest construction standard and a design speed of 350 kilometers/hour, it will be the longest urban high-speed railway tunnel in the country.
