The Comprehensive Smart Water Environment Management System for Jinji Lake and Surrounding Areas developed by SIP’s water authority was recently included in the digital twin basin construction piloting program (2022-2023) of the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) of China.

Digital twin basins refer to the virtual replica of real-world waters which are developed with advanced modeling, simulation and interaction technologies to help improve water environment management.

SIP began to plan and build a digital twin system for the Jinji Lake and the surrounding waters in February based on a comprehensive management system launched in 2017 for these waters.

The project, located in Muchengang Water Management Center, currently consists of a visual system, three-dimensional models, remote control modules, intelligent broadcasting device as well as automatic information collection and water quality monitoring systems to collect, analyze and process data about the target waters.

The system provides a holistic picture of the target waters and related facilities, and its automatic systems can help liberate people from tedious tasks of data processing and improve the efficiency of water environment management.
