SIP Federation of Trade Unions (SIP FTU) kicked off an intangible cultural heritage fair tour on Jan 19 to bring a variety of traditional Chinese handicrafts and related culture close to enterprise employees who are going to spend the upcoming Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) holiday in SIP. The first stop is SJEC, an elevator and escalator company where over 1,000 employees will stay put during the holiday.
SIP FTU said it plans to invest about RMB 5 million to offer gifts and activities to about 200,000 enterprise employees to help stabilize employment in SIP around the holiday.
At the event, the enterprise’s employees had the chances to try their hands on embroidering, woodcut picture printing and other traditional craftsmanship, and also sampled various local snacks.
Apart from that, several calligraphers wrote Spring Festival couplets for the employees to use as decorations during the festival.
According to SIP FTU, the fair will tour to other five enterprises over the next few days, and is expected to become a regular service to benefit more SIP-based enterprises and their employees.
