Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) in SIP recently unveiled the plan for 20 events designed to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Under the plan, SZSO head Chen Guangxian will lead SZSO’s artists to visit a number of government offices, enterprises, public institutions, schools and communities in Suzhou over the rest of the year to give music lectures and performances.
The events are expected to help the participants acquire a good knowledge of many Chinese and overseas patriotic composers and their works, according to Chen.
“Music is a mirror of the times. The patriotic works by the Chinese composers like Xian Xinghai and Nie Er can tell us a lot about the history,” said Chen.
