Communities in SIP’s Hudong sub-district recently hosted a diversity of events to mark the upcoming Double Ninth Festival, a celebration for the elderly, which, reckoned on the ninth day of the ninth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall on Oct 25 this year.
Lingdong Community hosted a volunteer service event on Oct 18 when a group of volunteers provided free scissor sharpening, shoes mending, medical diagnosis and other handy services to local residents.
The volunteers in Jiuhua Community visited the local seniors aged above 80 on Oct 20 to give them Double-Ninth cakes and anti-epidemic supplies along with festival blessings.
