The Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival, is reckoned on the first day of the first month on the Chinese lunar calendar, and this year it fell on Feb 1. As in many other places in the country, celebrations in SIP usually last for weeks each year.

Recently, many expatriates and their families experienced culture related to Chinese New Year at SIP One-stop Service Centre for Expats. They tried to make traditional Chinese paper-cuts and write Spring Festival couplets, played traditional Chinese games, and learnt to make Tanghulu, a traditional Chinese snack.

“It’s very interesting, and provides a good chance for me to better understand local culture,” said a woman from Tunisia.

Actually, it was just one of the events scheduled in SIP around the festival. SIP’s sub-districts, scenic spots and commercial complexes have designed a variety of events including concerts, bazaars and DIY activities for the festival.

It is worth mentioning that SIP Federation of Trade Unions has allocated about RMB 5 million to offer gifts and activities to about 200,000 enterprise employees.
