Quyuan Garden, the former residence of Yu Yue, a revered litterateur and educator in the Qing Dynasty, is small, with a total area of 2,800 square meters.
The garden is long north-south, and narrow east-west, shaping like an “L”, embodying the Taoist philosophy that “To yield is to be preserved whole. To be bent is to become straight.”
The garden features an elaborate design with beautiful rockeries, pavilions, corridors, pools and plants.
