Nanotech industry rising rapidly

Nanotech industry was put under SIP’s priority development plan as early as 2006, and was classified as a local strategic emerging industry in 2010. SIP has introduced potent policy, financial and other forms of support over the past years to lure nanotech professionals and projects.

SIP is now home to hundreds of industry-leading nanotech businesses and research institutes.

Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics, a joint establishment by Chinese Academy of Sciences and the governments of East China’s Jiangsu province and Suzhou city, owns the world’s largest multifunctional nanoscience and nanotech research platform Nano-X.

NanoMicro, an SIP-based company, provides a broad spectrum of products including high-performance chromatography media, solid phase extraction (SPE) sorbents, magnetic particles, LCD spacer, ACF conductive particles and various other customized functional microsphere products.

Moreover, SIP has 144 enterprises and organizations engaged in micro and nano fabrication, with an annual output value of about RMB 30.7 billion.

On the other hand, SIP hosts a variety of events each year to facilitate cooperation and exchanges in the nanotech sector. The CHInano 2020 Conference & Expo held in SIP last October gathered over 200 biotech experts and professionals as well as more than 1,600 enterprise exhibitors with their latest nanotech outcomes.

SIP authorities announced the SIP Three-Year Action Plan for Development of Emerging Industries last August. One of the goals under the plan is to build a world-class nanotech cluster.
