Suzhou Industrial Park learns from and makes full use of the advanced experience of Singapore in urban planning and construction and economic growth, building a group of infrastructure facilities ahead of current development stage by following the management practice of "planning first" and "taking plans as laws". Its industrial development is focused on "transformation, optimization, upgrading, and innovation", to exploit the advantages of China-Singapore joint investment promotion system, sticking to global visions, and launching four action plans of industrial upgrading, technological leap growth, service sector multiple growth, and ecological optimization.

Suzhou Industrial Park learns the advanced experience of Singapore and other developed countries on the basis of actual conditions and needs in China, and sets up a series of management systems and operation mechanisms in conformity with international practice and market principles yet with distinct national and local characteristics. Resorting to the advantages of China-Singapore cooperation, SIP introduced proved practice to achieve leap growth in various fields. In addition to learning from others, SIP is also a pioneer in innovations. Sticking to the call of emancipating the mind advocated by the central government, SIP has chartered a unique path of "special without being a special zone, and striving to be more special".
 
Suzhou Industrial Park combines various elements of city, garden, industry, business, and life by centering on people, stressing harmonious development, and managing to achieve balance between growth and the public benefits, the public prosperity and the personal happiness. As a rising new district in the east of Suzhou, SIP makes the ancient Suzhou more glamorous. In 2004, CCTV praised Suzhou as the city with the leading economic strength and most energy in China. The comment made by the judge panel on Suzhou is: "An oriental city of water that the world spends twenty five centuries reading, a modern industrial park that spends ten years sharpening its edges with an aim to surpass the past glories, Suzhou plans its modern economy with the skill of building an exquisite garden and bridges the east and the west with the unique technique of double-sided embroidery." In a sense, SIP serves as the platform for the city to bring together the east and the west.
