History turned to a brand new page in 1994 with the founding of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. Seventeen years later, SIP has created its own history with a string of glorious achievements.

To realize sustainable growth, local government decided on the overall goals of new industries, new city, and new talents based on new concepts, new objectives, and new styles so as to build the city into a pilot area featuring Scientific Outlook, innovation, and integrated urban and rural development as well as a city with high-end industries, beautiful ecological environment, integrating cultural traditions and modern civilization. The mission is to build a high-tech industrial park with international competiveness, as well as an information-based, modern international city district featuring innovation, environment-protection, and happy life.

  These pictures are about the changes of offices and office buildings. Seventeen years ago, the pioneers came to this place and started to change the skyline of the areas around Jinji Lake. To make dreams come true, they worked hard day and night, unveiling a glorious era with their wisdom and sweat.
 
   
  Back in 1994, the place had nothing but farmland and farmhouses. When the first pile was driven into the earth, the curtain rose over of a great show. Seventeen years later, a new city district where nature and human civilization, tradition and modernity co-exist in harmony comes into being. These pictures about the area before, during, and after the exploration show clearly the big changes.
 
  Factories and R&D centers, these industrial buildings are an important part of SIP and a concrete reflection of its booming economy. SIP is the Mecca for investors, the frontline for technological innovations, and the paradise for high-end professionals. With pioneering concepts, ideals of pursuing excellence, and the continuous efforts of all SIP people, the industrial park has created one miracle after another.
 
   Along with stable and rapid growth in SIP, education, culture, and healthcare flourish as a natural result. Taking a night tour on Jinji Lake, enjoying a performance at Suzhou Culture & Arts Centre, riding on the Ferris Wheel, or chatting away a sunny afternoon with friends at Times Square, you know you're in a city with all the convenient services expected of a modern society.
 
 
  The muddy roads and small creeks in these yellowish pictures have long gone and only live in the memories of the locals. The farmers have moved into modern communities and the gap between city and countryside is disappearing.
 
  Among numerous cultural legacies in the area, there are cultural relics at Caoxie Hill that dates back to six thousand years ago, Chongyuan Temple, the peal of religious community with a history of ten centuries, the Three Treasures of Shengpu Town, namely the traditional dress and accessories for local women, the Xuanjuan art (a local folk art of telling stories by singing and speaking), and the local folk songs listed as provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is a place where tradition and modernity coexist in harmony.
 
 
  SIP has created many records in the country and produced numerous stories under the spirit of Learning, Innovation, Harmony, and Win-Win Cooperation. The locals witness its dramatic changes and the new comers are impressed by its achievements.
 
  Along the way toward success, there is a special group making outstanding contributions and they are Party members. These pioneers are almost everywhere, helping local poverty-stricken families, donating money to those in need, building harmonious society, innovating administrative systems, offering efficient services to companies, and making SIP a big warm family for everyone.
