On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Singaporean diplomatic relations, Singapore Prime Minster Lee Hsien Loong made a working visit in Chongqing, Shanghai, Changsha, Wuhan and Suzhou in China. From Sept.11-12, Lee visited Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). In SIP, Lee visited Modern Building, Suzhou Science and Cultural Arts Center, the exhibition on SIP's achievement of development and construction in the past 16 years, and Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation Park. Lee said that SIP not only attracted quantities of investment, brought forth lots of job opportunities and created the beautiful living environment, but also had far surpassed the previous plans and expectations.

SIP: Successful Model of Sino-Singapore Cooperation
     On the afternoon of September 12, Liang Baohua, Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, met with Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore and his wife, Ho Ching, and they had a cordial and friendly discussion.On welcoming President Lee's visit to Suzhou, Liang said, "This year is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. Jiangsu has become the region of most intensive cooperation with Singapore: 40% of Singapore's investment in China is in Jiangsu province and Jiangsu's trade volume with Singapore takes 1/6 of the total sino-Singapore trade; 15,000 people/times have been sent to Singapore for training in the last five years, forming a comprehensive, multi-level and broad-ranging cooperation pattern. Lee Hsien Loong: SIP Far Surpasses the Previous Plans and Expectations
     Standing on the 22th floor of Modern Building to take a bird's-eye view of SIP, Lee was in high spirits when he saw modern buildings spring up. And when he learned that SIP continuously expanded in scale and had made new breakthroughs in sci-tech innovation and modern service sector after the implementation of The Planning of Eastern Suzhou District cum of Suzhou Industrial Park(2008-2020), Lee was especially pleased and said that the planning should integrate in line with overall environment and harmonious development.
