Kookmin Bank Opens Suzhou Branch in SIP
With the approval of China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), Kookmin Bank (KB), a Fortune-500 enterprise and the largest commercial bank of Korea, opened a branch in Suzhou on July 6, and this is the third Kookmin branch in mainland China.

KB Suzhou Branch provides deposit services, offers short-, medium-, and long-term loans, transacts bills and discounted notes, deals government bonds, financial bonds, as well as other foreign currency securities except for stocks, provides such financial services as letter of credit and credit guarantee, domestic and foreign settlement, and insurance agency.

KB CEO Kang Chung-won said at his opening speech that Suzhou was the second largest industrial city in China known for its traditional culture and long history. Such global leaders as Wal-Mart and Sony as well as leading Korean companies including Samsung Electronics and Poscore are active players in the city. Kang believed that the opening of KB Suzhou Branch would introduce the advanced banking practices to the city and provide better services to Korean residents and enterprises as well as local companies.

There are currently eight branches and five representative offices of foreign banks in Suzhou as well as 140 financial institutions.
