| Dragon boat race is a traditional activity of distinct Chinese characteristics in reflection of the strenuous fighting spirit of the Chinese people. With an agreeable field for the racing provided by the expansive water of Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and the pleasant bank surroundings, Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Racing was held at the Moon Harbor on June 6, not only as an important sports event but also as one of "Our Festival -- Traditional Festival Cultural Activities" listed by Suzhou Culture Office. There are 31 men's teams and 6 women's teams from foreign-funded enterprises, domestic enterprises and institutions, federation of industry and commerce, banks and insurance companies of Suzhou, in which some enterprises organized several teams to participate. Apart from dragon boat racing, multiple activities such as family fun land boat racing, dragon boat photographing and Dragon Boat Festival traditional folk custom display were also held to provide Suzhou citizens with a platform for more experience of Dragon Boat culture. |
