Chinese melodies linger at China Culture Center (Singapore)

Zhou Sanbo and Huang Feiyan, two young artists from Suzhou Pingtan Troupe gave wonderful pingtan (storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect) performances at China Culture Center (Singapore), drawing warm applause from the audiences.

With a history of over 200 years, pingtan is hailed as one of the “most beautiful Chinese melodies” and was inscribed on the country’s first Extended List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008.
At the event, the two artists who have received a long list of awards for their superb performance skills and exquisite artistry performed the Night at Maple Bridge, Beautiful Taihu Lake and several other popular pingtan episodes, offering the local audiences a chance to know better about Suzhou music and culture.
